Iranian singer sentenced to 74 lashes for singing without hijab

An Iranian court has sentenced singer Parastu Ahmadi to 74 lashes and eight
members of her group to 100 lashes each for ‘obscene and immoral content.’

She was also banned from performing for two years and banned from leaving the country, a court in Qom province said.

The incident took place in December 2024. 29-year-old Parastu performed a patriotic song titled ‘Aaj Khoone Javanane Watan’ on YouTube Live.

At that time, she performed without a hijab. The song went viral at the time. But the Iranian court has called the content ‘obscene’.
