Kanan believes football is a passion for Bangladeshi football lovers

What is the country’s former star goalkeeper of Bangladesh National Football team, Sayeed Hassan Kanan’s thoughts on this FIFA World Cup? This report is about which team he supports and which team he is putting forward as the favorite this time.

Sayeed Hassan Kanan believes For Bangladeshi football lovers, football is not just a game, it is a passion. And a large part of this passion is covered by the two superpowers of Latin American team, Brazil and Argentina.

Sayeed Hassan Kanan’s love for international football began with the 1982 FIFA World Cup. Since then, Brazil have occupied a special place in his heart. The unique rhythm and spectacular style of the Brazilian game have made him a supporter of the team.

According to him, “Brazil are the real heart of football. Children there play football on their way from school level. This football culture is ingrained in their bones. That is why this country’s football is different from others. I became a footballer after seeing the rhythm of Brazilian football.”

Sayeed Hassan Kanan said, “In Bangladesh, Brazil had absolute dominance in terms of fans in the 80s and 90s. During the World Cup, the streets and rooftops of the country were covered with Brazilian flags. At that time, there were no modern facilities or proximity to foreign coaches like now-a-days.

We, the players of that generation, took football lessons by watching legends like Zico, Socrates, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos performance. We watched their performance through television and at that time their skill, stamina, style and performance were very high standard.”

Sayeed Hassan Kanan has mixed opinions on the increase in the number of teams and the format of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Sayeed Hassan said, “48 teams are playing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The scope of the tournament has increased by increasing the number of teams. It will be played over a long period.

There are many new and unfamiliar teams in this tournament, which lasts about one and a half to two months. Moreover, the World Cup is being held in multiple countries (America, Canada, Mexico). I personally do not like the FIFA World Cup being held in a scattered manner.

Because, when the World Cup is held in one country, there is a big gathering of people from different cultures. I went to watch the World Cup in Germany. What a festival I saw there! Playing in multiple countries will spoil that joy.”

Cricket has now increased in popularity in Bangladesh. However, football still occupies the number one place in people’s minds. Kanan said, “Although cricket has taken its place in Bangladesh over time, football is still very popular with the people of this country.

Due to the time difference, this year’s matches will be broadcast from midnight to early morning in Bangladesh. As a result, many may have to watch the highlights instead of watching the game live. Still, there is no shortage of excitement among football fans.

As the current champion, Argentina have a huge fans in Bangladesh. Argentina have created an atmosphere of traditional rivalry between Brazil’s supporters. That is why the World Cup craze is always there in Bangladesh.”

Sayeed Hassan Kanan has a dream to see the World Cup final between the two most popular teams, Brazil and Argentina. This is not only his dream, but also the dream of millions of people around the world. he said, “Like millions of football fans, my dream is to see the final between Brazil and Argentina.

In the history of football, these two superpowers have never faced each other in the World Cup final. I am looking forward to seeing a dignified fight between these two eternal rivals.”
