Buddhist religious worker assaulted

A Buddhist religious worker was allegedly assaulted by some unknown miscreants in the city on Wednesday evening.
The victim was identified as Animesh Barua, son of Dipak Barua of village West Gohira, under Raozan Upazila in the district.
A resident of city’s Agrabad area Animesh serves in a private office as well as dedicates his spare time in religious activities. He was returning home in a rickshaw after attending a religious programme in the temple at Lalkhan Bazar area while some miscreants assaulted him near Kadamtali area at around 7 pm. The locals rushed him to a private clinic for treatment. It is alleged that some miscreants threatened him repeatedly over phone without disclosing their identity.
They threatened him saying that they would do physical harm to him and his family members if he continued his religious activities. In such a panicked situation Animesh Barua fears more assaults and feels unsecured along with his wife and the son. He seeks necessary measures from the concerned authorities.
