



A police inspector named Khorshed Alam, in-charge of the Jahajmara Police Investigation Center in Hatiya, Noakhali, has been accused of raping a 12-year-old child. Following the allegation, he was immediately withdrawn from his post and attached to the Noakhali Police Lines.
On Saturday night, June 13, Hatiya Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Kabir Hossain confirmed the matter.
He said that upon receiving the complaint, the concerned officer was immediately relieved of his duties and attached to the Police Lines, and the matter is being investigated seriously. Meanwhile, as news of the rape of the 12-year-old child spread, social media and the Noakhali region erupted in outrage. The victim’s family and local residents have demanded that the accused police officer Khorshed Alam not merely be suspended, but arrested without delay.
The police administration stated that the incident is being treated as sensitive, initial administrative action has been taken, and the matter is under investigation.
According to the victim child’s statement and the family’s complaint, the child’s mother and brother had long been working as cooks at the Jahajmara Police Investigation Center’s mess. Through this connection, the child also used to visit the center.
The complaint alleges that after assuming charge, Police Inspector Khorshed Alam would call the child to his residence at various times, and is accused of raping her multiple times under threats and intimidation.
The victim’s family further alleged that the accused officer would threaten the child to keep the incidents secret, and would also lure her with promises of money at various times. The family stated that they had kept the matter hidden out of fear for their own safety.
Neighbors of the victim said the incident has caused widespread shock in Hatiya and surrounding areas. Locals have demanded a fair and impartial investigation, and called for strict legal action including arrest if the accused is proven guilty.
Hatiya Police Station OC Mohammad Kabir Hossain further stated that the complaint is being taken seriously, and necessary legal action will be taken following a proper investigation.
