Budget proposal of Tk 2586 crore 6 lakh for the Ministry of Youth and Sports
Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has proposed a total budget of Tk 2586 crore 6 lakh for the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the fiscal year 2026-27, including non-development and development expenditure.
Among the projects to be implemented under the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the fiscal year 2026-27, notable ones are the provision of sports allowance to 300 athletes with the aim of establishing sports as a profession.
Initiatives have been taken to build sports villages in 64 districts and as part of this, preliminary designs of sports villages have already been prepared in 10 districts, and initiatives have been taken to strengthen ‘sports diplomacy’ to increase international cooperation.
As announced by the Prime Minister, the ‘Notun Kuri Sports Programme’ has been launched, through which scholarships will be provided to talented sports students aged 12-14.
A total of 8 sports including football, cricket, kabaddi, athletics, badminton, chess, swimming and martial arts have been included in the ‘Notun Kuri Sports Programme’.
A total of 168,622 players, including 121,492 boys and 47,130 girls, have registered in ‘Notun Kuri Sports’ from all over the country. For this purpose, Tk 200 crore has been allocated in the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27.
