Gomstapur Upazila Press Club gets new body

The Gomstapur Upazila Press Club has elected a new executive committee for its next term, with Asadullah Ahmad and Yahia Khan Rubel elected president and general secretary respectively in a vote held on June 5.

The election was conducted under the supervision of a committee formed to oversee the process, with Enamul Haque, a lecturer at Rohanpur Yusuf Ali Government College, serving as election commissioner. All 13 eligible members of the press club exercised their voting rights.

Asadullah Ahmad, Gomstapur correspondent for Dainik Khola Kagoj, The New Nation and Uttara Protidin, was elected president.

Yahia Khan Rubel, correspondent for Dainik Amader Shomoy and Sangbad, was elected general secretary.

The newly elected committee also includes Md. Delwar Hossain Rony of Dainik Bhorer Dak and Notun Probhat as vice-president, Md. Sarwar Jahan Suman of Dainik Sokaler Shomoy as joint secretary, Md. Azizul Haque of Dainik Inqilab as treasurer, and Md. Emran Ali Babu of Dainik Protidiner Bangladesh and Chapai Drishti as sports and cultural secretary.

The committee members are Md. Al Mamun Biswas of Dainik Protidiner Sangbad, Sonar Desh and Gour Bangla; Md. Imran Ali of Dainik Jay Jay Din; and Md. Shahidul Islam of Dainik Amar Sangbad.

Following the announcement of the results, members of the press club expressed hope that the newly elected committee would work to strengthen professional journalism, protect journalists’ interests, and contribute to the development of the media sector in Gomstapur.
