BTV, T-Sports, Somoy TV to broadcast World Cup 26

Bangladeshi football fans will be able to watch all matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 live on BTV, T-Sports and Somoy TV, following the confirmation of broadcasting rights for Bangladesh.

Ahmed Raqib, Head of Marketing at T-Sports, confirmed on Friday that Bangladesh Television (BTV) has secured the broadcast rights for the country.

“We have received the letter of confirmation today from BTV, which earned the broadcast rights for Bangladesh,” Raqib told reporters.

He added that alongside the state-owned BTV, private television channels T-Sports and Somoy TV will also telecast all FIFA World Cup 2026 matches live for viewers across the country.

The development comes after Singapore-based Springbok Pte Ltd, which had initially secured the broadcasting rights for the region, withdrew from its agreement in May. The move had raised concerns over the availability of World Cup broadcasts in several South Asian countries.

Following Springbok’s withdrawal, BTV entered negotiations with FIFA and successfully acquired the broadcasting rights for Bangladesh.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be held from June 11 to July 19 and will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada. Matches will be played across 16 host cities, including 11 in the United States, three in Mexico and two in Canada.

The upcoming edition will mark several historic firsts, including the first World Cup to be hosted by three nations and the first to feature 48 teams. A record 104 matches will be played during the tournament.
