Mohammedan retain supremacy beating Rupganj

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited retained their supremacy in Dhaka Premier League (DPL) cricket beating Legends of Rupganj by 107 runs in their eighth match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Tuesday.
Tawhid Hridoy of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club struck a superb century.
Hridoy hit a captain’s knock of 101. His 106-ball innings was studded with four sixes and six fours.
Hridoy was adjudged the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.
After yesterday’s outcome, Mohammedan led the points table collecting 14 points from eight matches.
Sent into bat first, Mohammedan piled up a mammoth total of 339 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 50 overs and then bundled out Legends of Rupganj for 232 off 34 overs.
Mohammedan had a superb start with two openers Mohammad Naim and Anamul Haque put on together 76 runs in the opening stand before Mohammad Naim was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Naim made 34 from 38 deliveries featuring six fours.
After Naim’s dismissal, Anamul Haque and Tawhid Hridoy built another worthy partnership scoring together 49 runs in the second wicket stand before Anamul Haque was dismissed by Shoriful Islam when Mohammedan’s score was 125 for the loss of two wickets.
Anamul Haque hit a marvelous 71. His 63-ball innings was belted with five sixes and five fours.
After Anamul’s departure, Tawhid Hridoy and Afif Hossain contributed together 140 runs for the third wicket partnership before Afif Hossain was bowled out by Mahedi Hasan when Mohammedan’s total was 265 for the loss of three wickets.
Afif Hossan hit a run-a-ball 70. He struck three fours and three sixes.
After Afif’s departure, Mohammad Saifuddin came at the crease but his innings was short-lived as he (9) was bowled out by Mahedi Hasan when Mohammedan’s score was 290 for the loss of four wickets.
Then, Tawhid Hridoy and Yasir Ali made a remarkable partnership as they put up together 40 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Tawhid Hridoy was dismissed by Hasan Mahmud when Mohammedan’s total was 330 for the loss of five wickets.
Yasir Ali remained unbeaten with 33. His 14-ball knock had four sixes and one four.
Mahedi Hasan bagged a couple of wickets giving 73 runs, while Miraz, Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud got one wicket each conceding 40, 50 and 90 runs respectively.
Later, opener Habibur Rahman Sohan, seventh down Nasum Ahmed and Number 8. batter Mahedi Hasan fought back against the superb bowling attack of Mohammedan’s bowlers.
Promising pacer Nahid Rana, Taibur Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin played the key role in wrecking Legend of Rupganj’s innings.
Nahid Rana captured four wickets in the space of 71 runs, while Taibur Rahman claimed three wickets in the lieu of 33 runs and Mohammad Saifuddin grabbed two wickets instead of 25 runs.
Besides, Taijul Islam took one wicket for 36 runs.
Habibur Rahman hammered a windy 59. His 27-ball innings was laced with five sixes and six fours.
Nasum Ahmed notched up a polished 45. His 40-ball innings was studded with three sixes and three fours.
Mahedi Hasan scored 37 from 50 balls including two fours and two sixes.
