Iran joins online frenzy over ‘Trump’ buffalo
Iran on Friday (22 May) injected a note of diplomatic humour into social media discourse by referencing a viral video of a Bangladeshi albino buffalo that many online users have compared to US President Donald Trump.
In a post on X, the account “Iran in Russia” shared footage originally circulated by RT and remarked: “Poor thing! Bangladeshi buffalo upset by comparisons to Donald Trump.”
The nearly 700kg albino buffalo, reportedly named “Donald Trump” because of the golden-coloured hair on its head, is being reared at Rabeya Agro Farm in the Paikpara area of the city.
According to farm sources, visitors have recently been flocking to the farm to see the animal, take photographs and cautiously interact with the calm and gentle buffalo.
As images and videos of the buffalo continued to circulate widely online, several international media outlets picked up the story, highlighting the animal’s unusual appearance, growing popularity and its expected sacrifice during Eid.
The light-hearted comparison has since generated considerable attention across social media platforms, with users responding with a mix of amusement and curiosity.
