Sylhet Metropolitan Women’s Jamaat’s holds human chain
Professor Mahfuza Siddika Hannan MP, a member of the reserved seat of the National Parliament and a member of the central unit of the women’s division of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, said that the brutal murder of the little girl Ramisa is a manifestation of the culture of impunity and the deterioration of the law and order situation in the country.
She made this remark while speaking as the chief guest at a human chain organised by Sylhet Metropolitan Mahila Jamaat in front of the Central Shaheed Minar in Chowhatta on Saturday.
Not only Ramisa in Dhaka, but also starting from the little girl Fahima in Sylhet, the sky of the country is gradually becoming heavy with one after other atrocities against women and children.
We have lost the language of protest. Today, children are not safe in families and educational institutions. We have to come out of the circle of the culture of impunity. Otherwise, the people will be forced to take the law into their own hands.
She said that the murderer has testified about the atrocities against Ramisa. So there is no room for further investigation, delay in the name of this report and that report.
Its trial must be ensured as soon as possible. Ramisa’s incident happened in Dhaka, so there is a commotion everywhere.
But no one has the exact account of hundreds of Ramisas being subjected to such atrocities in all corners of the country. No society and state can function like this.
Women must be free against this. The Prime Minister and the Home Minister must take effective steps to stop murder, rape, terrorism, extortion and improve the law and order situation across the country. We do not want to see such a cruel outcome for any other Ramisa or Fahima.
As part of the program announced by the center, a large number of women and students from different classes participated in the huge human chain held to protest the brutal murder of child Ramisa in Dhaka and Fahima in Sylhet and the deteriorating law and order situation across the country, including murder, rape, terrorism, extortion, and the arrest of identified terrorists.
The human chain held under the chairmanship of Jahanara Begum, working committee member of the women’s department of Sylhet Metropolitan Jamaat, and moderated by working committee member Zakia Nuri Chowdhury, was addressed by – Shahima Khanam Hepi, Sylhet regional director of Mahila Jamaat, Nasima Akhter Beauty, lecturer of Shahjalal Jamia Islamia School and College, Dr. Rabeya Begum, professor of the gynecology department of North East Medical College Hospital, labor leader Syeda Shirin Begum, and little child Sabria Nuraida.
