Ex-CJ Khairul shown arrested again

A Dhaka court on Saturday showed former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque arrested in another murder case filed over violence during the July Mass Uprising in 2024.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque passed the order after police produced the former chief justice before the court and sought permission to show him arrested in the case lodged with Jatrabari Police Station.

The case was filed over the killing of Khobaib, who was allegedly shot dead in the Jatrabari overbridge area on August 5, 2024. His brother Jobair Ahmed filed the case on November 16 that year.

Khairul Haque, 80, was arrested by a team of the Detective Branch from the capital’s Dhanmondi area on July 24, 2025, and was later shown arrested in another murder case.
