DB arrests three with 5,000 yaba tablets

Three suspected drug traffickers were arrested with 5,000 yaba tablets during a raid conducted by the Detective Branch (DB) in the Sutrapur area of the capital, according to a DMP press release issued on Friday.

The arrestees were identified as Tahmina Akhter Mina, 32, Md Helal Uddin alias Alauddin, 32, and Md Sadar Uddin alias Shawkat Ali, 65.

A team from the DB Uttara Division carried out the raid around 11:40pm on Thursday based on confidential information and recovered the yaba tablets from the suspects’ possession, police said.

According to investigators, the accused had been involved in drug trafficking in different parts of the city for a long time and frequently changed rented residences to evade law enforcement.

After the completion of legal procedures, the three were produced before a court. Several cases are pending against the accused, the release added.
