Prosenjit, Himu lead launch of CoU Reporters’ Unity

A new journalism platform, Comilla University Reporters’ Unity, has officially begun its journey at Comilla University with the slogan “Explore the Fact.”

Prosenjit Das, a representative of Kaler Kantho from the 2021-22 academic session of the Mass Communication and Journalism Department, has been made as the convener.

Farhad Hossain Himu, who represents NTV and The New Nation from the same department and session, has been appointed member secretary.

The four-member convening committee was announced on Wednesday (May 20) through a press release signed by the newly appointed convener and member secretary.

Other members of the committee include Obaidullah, a representative of Deshkal News, and Rocky Ul Hasan from Dainik Pratidiner Sangbad.

Expressing commitment to objective journalism, member secretary Farhad Hossain Himu said the organisation aims to ensure factual and unbiased reporting under its slogan, “Explore the Fact.” He noted that maintaining objectivity has become increasingly challenging in the era of new media.

“We are committed to upholding objectivity by verifying facts before publishing news,” he said. “Through responsible journalism, we aim to contribute to the positive branding of the campus. We express our sincere gratitude to all well-wishers present at this auspicious moment.”

Convener Prosenjit Das said the launch of the organisation marks the beginning of a new chapter in campus journalism.

“We believe this initiative will help establish higher standards in journalism by promoting truth, objectivity, and student-friendly reporting,” he said.

“We will strive to highlight the university’s achievements, challenges, and potential before the nation through fact-based and constructive journalism.”

The convening committee will serve for the next three months and is expected to announce the organisation’s first full executive committee within this period.
