DNCC tightens Eid market control ‘Pink Toilets’ for women at cattle markets
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has moved to strengthen management and hygiene measures at sacrificial cattle markets ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, focusing on sanitation, traffic control and women-friendly facilities.
The directives were issued on Wednesday during a meeting with cattle market leaseholders and concerned officials, DNCC Administrator Md Shariful Rahman Islam said.
He instructed strict enforcement of lease conditions and warned that action would be taken against any violations. DNCC will also maintain close monitoring to ensure that cattle markets do not create public suffering or worsen traffic congestion in the capital.
To maintain cleanliness, the administrator ordered daily removal of waste generated from the markets.
He also directed the establishment of separate “pink toilets” for women at all cattle markets to improve convenience and ensure basic facilities for female visitors.
