BB issues new Tk1,000, Tk500, and Tk10 notes

The Bangladesh Bank is releasing new banknotes of Tk1,000, Tk500, and Tk10 denominations featuring the theme “Historical and Archaeological Architecture of Bangladesh”.

The issuance of these notes commenced on Monday (18 May) from the Motijheel office of the Bangladesh Bank.

According to a notification in this regard, the new notes will bear the signature of Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman.

Banknotes of Tk20, Tk50, and Tk100 denominations from the same series, which are already in circulation, will also be progressively issued with the governor’s signature.

The central bank stated that the colour, size, design, and security features of the new notes will remain unchanged.

Furthermore, all existing paper notes and metallic coins currently in circulation will remain valid and legal tender.
