Tigers close to victory in 2nd Test against Pakistan
Bangladesh Cricket team were close to victory after piling up 390 in the second innings on the third day of the second Test against Pakistan Cricket team at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Mushfiqur Rahim notched up a splendid century.
He knocked a sedate 137. He hit 12 fours and a sixer playing 233 deliveries. It was Mushfiqur Rahim’s 14th Test century.
He reached his 100-run land-mark playing 178 deliveries with nine fours and a sixer.
Tigers had 436-run lead.
Pakistan were on naught at the close of third day play.
Bangladesh resumed their second innings with the over-night score of 110 for the loss of three wickets.
Najmul Hossain Shanto resumed his second innings with the over-night score of 13.
Shanto could able to add more two runs on the third day as he was trapped leg before wicket by Khurram Shahzad when Bangladesh’s score was 115 for the loss of four wickets.
After Shanto’s dismissal, third-down Mushfiqur Rahim and fourth-down Litton Das paved their path smooth contributing together 123 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Litton Das was caught at the deep third man by Saud Shakeel off Hasan Ali when the Tigers’ total was 238 for the loss of five wickets.
Litton Das knocked a sparkle 69. His 92-ball innings was laced with five fours. It was Litton’s 20th half-century in Test cricket.
After Litton’s departure, Mushfiqur Rahim and fifth-down Mehidy Hasan Miraz built a remarkable partnership scoring together 34 runs in six-wicket stand before Miraz (19) was bowled out by Khurram Shahzad when Bangladesh’s score was 272 for the loss of six wickets.
After Miraz’s dismissal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Taijul Islam made a worthy partnership.
They put on together 77 runs in the seven-wicket stand before Taijul Islam (22) was caught at the long-off by Mohammad Abbas off Sajid Khan when Bangladesh’s total was 349 for the loss of seven wickets.
Taskin Ahmed (6) was caught by Salman Agha off Hasan Ali when the home side’s score was 364 for the loss of eight wickets. Shoriful Islam (12) was caught at the long-off by Hasan Ali off Sajid Khan when the Tigers’ total was 383 for the loss of nine wickets.
Mushfiqur Rahim was caught at the deep midwicket by Mohammad Abbas off Sajid Khan when Bangladesh’s second innings came to an end.
Khurram Shahzad captured four wickets in the space of 86 runs, while Sajid Khan captured three wickets in lieu of 126 runs and Hasan Ali bagged two wickets conceding 83 runs.
Besides, Mohammad Abbas got one wicket instead of 66 runs.
