CCCI election date announced for May 23

The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) election is set to be held on May 23 after an extended period of administrative control, with two major panels contesting for leadership.

This information was provided in a notification signed by Monowara Begum, Director (Local Government) of the General Branch of the Chattogram Divisional Commissioner’s Office and Chairman of the Election Board, on Monday.

According to the notification, for the information of candidates and voters of the biennial election of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) 2025, voting for the election of 18 directors from the Ordinary and Associate Groups will be held uninterruptedly on May 23 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Agrabad World Trade Center.

Two panels are contesting the election. The United Business Forum is led by former FBCCI Director Amirul Haque, while the Samaman Parishad is led by former Senior Vice President SM Nurul Haque.

The CCCI has remained under an administrator for more than 20 months. The last competitive election of the chamber was held on March 30, 2013. Following the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, then Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Muhammad Anwar Pasha was appointed as administrator on September 9 of that year.

After his tenure ended, Chattogram Additional Commissioner (General) Mohammad Nurullah Noori was appointed as administrator on September 8, 2025. Later, upon completion of his term, Md. Motaher Hossain, Additional Divisional Commissioner (General), was assigned as administrator from January 20 this year until the election process is completed.
