Hadi Murder Case: 14 times delayed probe report
The date for submission of the further investigation report in the murder case of Inkilab Mancha convener Sharif Osman Bin Hadi has been postponed again.
The new date has been set for June 7. On Sunday, Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam fixed this date.
Sunday was the scheduled date for submission of the further investigation report in this case filed at Paltan Police Station.
However, as the investigating agency, the Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), failed to submit the report, the court postponed the date and set a new one.
With this, the time for submission of the CID’s report has been pushed back 14 times.
ASI Mamun Hossain of the Court Registry Office confirmed the matter.
Earlier, on January 15, the court directed the Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct a further investigation.
On that day, the plaintiff of the case, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inkilab Mancha, submitted a naraji (dissatisfaction petition) before the court.
The plaintiff submitted the naraji demanding further investigation. In the naraji application, the plaintiff claimed that the main mastermind of the Hadi murder case has not been identified. Even the main mystery has not been unraveled.
Earlier, on January 6, the investigation officer of the case, DB Police Inspector Faisal Ahmed, submitted a chargesheet against 17 persons including the main accused Faisal Karim Masud alias Rahul alias Dawood.
Among the 17 chargesheeted accused, 11 are currently in jail. Six, including the main accused Faisal, are absconding. After receiving the responsibility of further investigation, CID newly arrested two persons.
Among them, one named Rubel has given a confessional statement before the court. Mazedul Haq Helal, an arms dealer from Chittagong, has also been arrested for supplying the weapon used to kill Hadi.
Helal has also given a statement before the court admitting to supplying the weapon. A total of 13 persons are currently in jail in this case.
Sharif Osman Hadi was shot by motorcycle-borne miscreants on Box Culvert Road in Purana Paltan, Dhaka on December 12 of last year. Hadi, who was shot in the head, died on the night of December 18 while undergoing treatment in Singapore.
