Earlier, on the night of Tuesday, May 12, at around 11:30 PM, an outsider youth forcibly dragged a female student to a nearby jungle in the area adjacent to Fazilatunnesa Hall of the university and attempted to rape her. Since this incident, intense outrage has spread among the general students on campus. As the criminal was not arrested within the set ultimatum, the protesting female students declared the university’s Proctorial Body unwelcome. In addition, they broke the lock of the Proctor’s office and put a new lock in its place.
According to the victim and eyewitness students, at approximately 11:20 PM, the student was walking along a road on campus. At that time, a person began following her.
Upon reaching a deserted road adjacent to Fazilatunnesa Hall, the accused wrapped something resembling a handkerchief or rope around her neck from behind and dragged her into the nearby jungle.
At that time, several students were passing along the road on motorcycles. Upon hearing the victim’s screams, they quickly rushed to the scene, causing the accused to flee. The students then rescued the female student from beside the jungle in a state of terror.
University Proctor Professor Dr. A K M Rashidul Alam said, “As soon as we received the news, we went to the scene and analyzed the CCTV footage. It has been possible to preliminarily identify the accused from the footage. The victim student has also identified him. We believe he is an outsider youth.”
