Bashundhara Kings become champions in BFL

Players of Bashundhara Kings celebrate after becoming champions in Bangladesh Football League at Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Friday.

Bashundhara Kings became champions in the Bangladesh Football League (BFL) after defeating the powerful Dhaka Abahani Limted by two goals to nil in their ‘unwritten final’ on Friday at Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla.

Dhaka Anahani Limited also had a chance to win the title.
Both goals were scored in the second half of the match.

After Bashundhara’s Brazilian recruit Dorielton gave the lead from the penalty spot, Sohel Rana Sr. doubled the lead with a spectacular goal.

With this victory, Bashundhara Kings regained the title with 38 points after 17 matches. Abahani remained in second place with 4 points less.

Even if the champions team are found in the 17th round, the runners-up will be decided in the last round. Because Fortis FC defeated Brothers Union 2-0 on the same day. Their points are the same as Abahani’s 34.

The first half was locked 0-0.

Abahani made a change in the 62nd minute. Coach Maruful Haque replaced Mirajul with Bruno Matos. Abahani launched several attacks immediately after the Brazilian winger entered the field.

In the 81st minute, the gap did not become 3-0 due to Mitul Marma’s determination. Saad Uddin went up from the right side and shot at the post.

Mitul Marma blocked it, and on the second attempt, Emon’s shot from the middle of the small box was blocked by the Abahani defense.

In the 85th minute, Emeka’s right-footed shot went a little over the top. Thus Kings left the field with a 2-0 lead.

In the other matches of the day, Rahmatganj MFS defeated Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited 1-0. Police FC won 1-0 against Arambagh Krira Sangha.
