FILM FIESTA TAKE 05
The fifth edition of ‘Film Fiesta Take 05’ took place on May 15 at Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD), bringing together filmmakers, critics, students and cinema enthusiasts for a day centred on short films and cinematic discussions.
Organised by Film Fiesta, the event featured six official films alongside three special screenings, highlighting experimental storytelling, cultural reflection, folklore, and diverse cinematic forms, said a press release.
Founded in 2024, Film Fiesta has emerged as a platform supporting emerging filmmakers and independent cinematic voices in Bangladesh through regular screenings and discussions focused on the evolving philosophy of cinema.
This year’s edition carries the theme ‘Myths We Heard, Truths We Live’, reflecting on folklore, memory, and docufiction.
According to the organisers, the festival aims to revisit inherited narratives and explore how folklore continues to shape identity, memory, and lived experience in contemporary society.
The event also included conversations and interactive sessions with distinguished panelists, including filmmaker Ashraf Shishir and writer Sadia Khalid Reeti, who discussed cinema, storytelling, and independent film culture.
