Nat’l Film Parliament Confce in Dhaka on May 16

The National Film Parliament Conference 2026 is being organised in Dhaka on May 16 with the aim of further energising the film parliament movement.

The conference will begin at 9:00am at the Bangladesh Film Archive Building in Agargaon, under the initiative of the Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies (BFFS), said a press release.

The day-long conference is expected to bring together over a hundred film association representatives, organisers, and independent filmmakers from across the country.

They will participate in various discussions on the current situation, challenges, and future plans of the film association movement.

The conference will be inaugurated by the chief guest of the event, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon.

There will be an open discussion session at 11:00am to share experiences of film society activities outside Dhaka.

At the same time, a screening of director Leesa Gazi’s film ‘Barir Naam Shahana’ will be held in the main auditorium.

At 2:00pm, an open discussion session will be held to share experiences of university-based film society activities.

At the same time, a screening of Akram Khan’s liberation war-themed film ‘Nakshi Kanthar Zamin’ will begin in the main auditorium.

The award ceremony and closing ceremony will begin at 4:00pm.

In recognition of special contributions to the Film Sangsad movement, the Film Sangsad Award 2026 and the BFFS Award 2025 will be presented at this event.

The awards will be presented by Prime Minister’s Advisor (Policy, Information and Cultural Affairs) Zahed Ur Rahman.
