Press briefing held on govt’s 180-day prog, election manifesto
A press briefing on the government’s special 180-day programme and the implementation of its election manifesto was held with journalists working in Noakhali. The event was organised by the District Information Office.
The programme took place on Wednesday (May 12, 2026) at the conference room of the Noakhali Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shafiqul Islam attended the event as the chief guest, while Senior District Information Officer Md Monir Hossain presided over the programme.
During the discussion, the deputy commissioner sought cooperation from journalists in conveying the government’s development activities to the grassroots level.
He also highlighted various steps taken by the administration to implement the government’s electoral commitments.
Senior Information Officer Md Monir Hossain presented details of the 180-day action plan of the Department of Mass Communication under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, along with the activities carried out by the District Information Office over the past three months.
Key issues discussed at the briefing included the distribution of government benefits through family and farmer cards, canal excavation and tree plantation programmes, social awareness initiatives to prevent moral degradation and promote humanitarian values, as well as publicity regarding women’s empowerment and the benefits of agricultural loan waivers.
Representatives from local media also took part in the discussion, including Alamgir Yusuf of The Daily Ittefaq and News Nation, Moniruzzaman Chowdhury of Jugantor, Dr Borhan Uddin of The Daily Sangram, Shamsul Hasan Miron of Kaler Kantho, Md Liaquat Ali Khan, president of the District Journalists’ Union, Suman Bhowmik, general secretary of the District TV Journalists Forum, Akash Md Jasim, editor of Dainik Dishari, and Jahangir Alam, general secretary of the District Journalists’ Union and correspondent of Dainik Dinkal.
A large number of journalists from print and electronic media attended the event.
The briefing concluded with a call to involve people more actively in the country’s ongoing development activities.
