Govt plans 2nd Padma Bridge at Daulatdia-Paturia

The government has planned to construct a second Padma Bridge, likely on the Daulatdia-Paturia route, road transport and bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam said on Monday.

“We are going to construct the 2nd Padma Bridge. The feasibility study has already been completed. We are now discussing the financing issue and carrying out other preliminary preparations,” he said.
The minister made the remarks after a preparatory meeting at the Secretariat on ensuring safe travel during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

He said three proposals are under consideration for the bridge location, with the Daulatdia-Paturia route currently receiving the highest priority.

According to the minister, the proposed bridge is expected to ease pressure on existing river crossings and improve connectivity between the country’s southern and southwestern regions with the capital and other parts of Bangladesh.

He also said the government is working on several major infrastructure projects to strengthen the national transport network and ensure safer and smoother travel for passengers, especially during major holidays and festivals.
