Toxic materials seized in Pabna fake milk crackdown
Pabna administration conducted a raid on a fake milk factory and 730 litres of poisonous jelly, a liquid similar to soybean oil, and fake milk stored in 12 drums seized in Bilchalon union of Chatmohar upazila in Pabna on Saturday.
The raid was carried out at the house of a Krishak Dal leader named Abdul Momin in Notabaria village with the assistance of NSI Pabna on Saturday (May 9). Chatmohar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Musa Naser Chowdhury led the operation.
During the raid, Abdul Momin and his cousin Al Amin fled the scene, while Momin’s father, Azizul Haque, was arrested.
Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Mostafa said that Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Musa Naser Chowdhury conducted the raid with assistance from NSI and police based on secret information. However, Abdul Momin managed to flee. A case has been filed with the police station.
The arrested Azizul Haque was also allegedly involved in producing fake milk. Abdul Momin is the organising secretary of Bilchalon Union Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal and has been absconding since the incident.
Earlier, on August 20, 2025, Upazila Executive Officer Musa Naser Chowdhury conducted a raid at Abdul Momin’s house and fined him Tk 50,000 on charges of producing fake milk.
However, his business reportedly continued despite the penalty. At that time, Abdul Momin was temporarily expelled from the party.
According to NSI and police sources, Abdul Momin had been producing fake milk using toxic chemicals at his house for a long time.
The latest raid was conducted based on information provided by NSI Pabna. Abdul Momin fled after learning about the operation. During the raid, his father was arrested along with equipment used for producing fake milk.
Later, Upazila Sanitary Inspector Aslam Hossain filed a case with Chatmohar Police Station against Abdul Momin, his wife Rekha Khatun, cousin Al Amin, and father Azizul Haque.
NSI Deputy Director ABM Lutful Kabir, Field Officer Zakaria Sultan, 10 NSI members, and local police provided overall support during the operation.
