Govt following old path Says Parwar
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar on Friday said the government is “following the old path.”
He made the remarks while speaking at the central biennial conference of the Bangladesh Railway Employees’ League held at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) in Dhaka.
“People of the country took to the streets with the resolve to build a discrimination-free Bangladesh. Yet the new government is not giving importance to those matters and is once again following the old path,” he said.
Parwar warned against adopting outside policy prescriptions. “No country’s prescription will be accepted. Business, trade and industry, along with all sectors, must be independent,” he said.
He also urged the government to build a just and discrimination-free Bangladesh, adding that the rights of railway workers and all laborers must be ensured.
Leaders and activists of the organization also called for prioritizing the railway sector in the upcoming national budget.
