EMGS Malaysia Education Expo 2026 begins in city

The EMGS “Study in Malaysia” Education Expo Bangladesh-2026 began in Dhaka on Friday, aiming to connect Bangladeshi students with leading Malaysian higher education institutions.
The expo was formally inaugurated at Hotel Sarina in Banani by the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, Mohd. Shuhada Othman. The head of the Malaysian delegation and Head of South Asia at EMGS, Moeen Uddin Ahmed Khan, was also present.
Organised by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) under Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education, the expo seeks to provide Bangladeshi students, parents, and professionals with direct access to authentic information on studying in Malaysia.
This year’s edition features 12 prominent Malaysian universities, including four public universities, offering academic programmes ranging from Foundation and Diploma to Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, and Post-Doctoral levels.
As part of a multi-city initiative, the expo is being held in Dhaka on 8-9 May, Rajshahi on 13 May, and Chattogram on 15 May 2026.
Officials said the initiative is particularly significant for Bangladeshi professionals seeking postgraduate opportunities, highlighting Malaysia’s growing research ecosystem, internationally supervised projects, and industry-linked academic programmes.
They also noted Malaysia’s relatively affordable living costs, flexible study options, and family-friendly policies that allow eligible students to bring dependents. A series of official engagements are also scheduled alongside the expo.
These include a courtesy call on the Education Minister of Bangladesh on 11 May, a Bangladesh-Malaysia Higher Education Networking Session in collaboration with the University Grants Commission on 18 May, and a high-level networking event hosted by the Government of Malaysia at Six Seasons Hotel.
The networking sessions will bring together EMGS leadership, the Malaysian High Commissioner, senior officials from the University Grants Commission, the Ministry of Education, vice-chancellors, and media representatives.
Through the expo, participants will receive guidance on admissions, scholarships, tuition fees, visa procedures, student welfare services, and career opportunities in Malaysia.
Officials reiterated that Malaysia continues to position itself as a global education hub, offering internationally recognised degrees, multicultural exposure, and strong academic-industry linkages.
