Ritu Parna to play in Myanmar League

Bangladesh women’s footballer Sabina Khatun and Sanjida Akhtar have so far played in the leagues of India, Nepal and Bhutan.

Now Ritu Parna Chakma has got the opportunity to play in the Myanmar Women League (MWL).

The forward has signed a three-month contract with Ayeyawady United, the current champions of the country’s top women’s league.

Ritu Parna Chakma is scheduled to return to Myanmar on June 12, after returning from the SAFF Championship held in Goa, India.

But the date of Myanmar Women League has not yet been finalised.

Ayeyawady United’s women’s football activities began just two years ago.

The team finished third in the league in its first season, but became the undefeated champions last season.

Ritu Parna scored a brace in the Asian Cup Qualifiers against the hosts in Myanmar last year.

Her brilliant performance caught everyone’s attention. In addition, her long-range shot in Australia was eye-catching.

Ritu Parna told the reporters, ‘Yes, I will go play in Myanmar Women League (MWL). The agreement has been made.’

BFF Women’s Football Committee Chairperson Mahfuza Akhter Kiron, said, ‘After returning from SAFF Championship, preparations are underway for the Asian Games in June.

If there are national team activities, Rituparna may not be allowed to play in the Myanmar league.

They are contracted players of the BFF. First, we have to look at the interests of the national team. Let’s see what happens next.
