Cleaners to get continued support: DNCC

Dhaka North City Corporation distributed around 2,500 raincoats among its sanitation workers to ensure uninterrupted cleanliness services during the upcoming monsoon season.

The raincoats were handed over at a programme held at Gulshan Nagar Bhaban in the capital on Monday.

DNCC Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan attended the programme as the chief guest.
He said the initiative was taken for those who work tirelessly from early morning to keep the city clean and ensure a healthy environment for residents.

He also noted that during the last Eid, the Prime Minister had provided a special bonus to sanitation workers in recognition of their contributions.

“We have a responsibility towards you and remain committed to your welfare. We will support you in every possible way, and our success depends on citizens’ satisfaction with your work,” he added.

Officials said that winter clothing, masks and gumboots had earlier been distributed to workers, and the raincoat distribution is part of the same ongoing welfare initiative.

Speakers at the event stressed ensuring safety for sanitation workers and increasing public awareness, saying that a clean and livable Dhaka requires joint efforts from both authorities and citizens.
