Hockey to get crore- worth sponsors

Bangladesh women’s hockey team have finished as runners-up in the Asian Games Qualifying tournament in Jakarta, Indonesia recently.
Being among the top six teams, Bangladesh women’s hockey team have also been confirmed to participate in the Asian Games in Japan next September for the first time.
To make this participation a success, Epyllion Group will provide financial support of a total of one crore taka to the Hockey Federation.
This support will cover international and domestic travel expenses, accommodation, food, team kit, uniform, equipment, training preparation and other tournament-related expenses.
Bangladesh men’s and women’s hockey teams will participate in the U-18 Asia Cup in Japan.
The Epyllion Group will provide one crore taka to the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) as the sponsor for the teams.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Hockey Federation and the Epilion Group on Sunday.
BHF General Secretary Lt. Col. Riazul Hasan (retd) said, ‘If everything goes well, the two teams will leave for Japan on May 26.
About 45 percent of the expenses for this tournament will be covered by this, and we will raise the rest.’
Sadequzzaman Khan, Senior Brand Manager of Epyllion Group, said, ‘We are sponsoring the Hockey Federation with one crore taka for this tournament. Epyllion Group works for the development of sports.
Previously, we have sponsored football, cricket and kabaddi. This time we have become involved in hockey.’
Many sponsors sponsor national teams in football, cricket or other sports. There are fewer sponsors to bring players to the grassroots.
The Epyllion Group’s main focus on developing the game is, ‘We actually want to build a foundation for players.
Those who are U-18s in hockey today will play in the national team in a few days. We want to be a development partner in hockey.’
BRAC Bank has sponsored Bangladesh women’s hockey. They are also a development partner of hockey.
Therefore, the general secretary called on the Epilion Group to be a partner of men’s hockey, ‘BRAC Bank is working on women’s hockey.
There is no scope for duplication, so we will request the Epilion Group to be a partner in the development of men’s hockey.’
