6 fishermen freed from forest bandits in Eastern Sundarbans
After being held hostage for 13 days in the Eastern Sundarbans, six fishermen returned home on Saturday after paying a ransom.
Bandit leader Sharif and his gang abducted the six fishermen from the Kokilmoni and Chatra areas of the Eastern Sundarbans in Bagerhat district on April 20.
Nazma Begum, wife of Kalam Faraji, a fisherman from Sharankhola, told over her mobile phone on Saturday (May 2) that her brother-in-law Kalam Faraji and five other fishermen returned home on Saturday morning after paying a ransom to the bandits following 13 days of captivity.
