Law and Order: Police stations must be broker-free

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has instructed that all police stations across the country, including those in the capital Dhaka, be made free of brokers and middlemen.

He issued the directive on Saturday afternoon while inspecting Ramna Model Police Station, addressing senior police officials and other concerned personnel.

During the inspection, the Home Minister entered the room of the Officer-in-Charge (OC), where four to five individuals were present, including two police members from other stations.

He asked those present to identify themselves and explain their purpose for being there.

The Minister then visited several areas of the police station, including the lock-up, and reviewed the overall conditions.

He spoke with the OC, duty officers and on-duty personnel, and listened to various operational concerns.

He also personally inspected the food provided to a detainee in the lock-up.

In addition, he enquired whether adequate facilities such as washrooms and fans were available.

The Home Minister further visited the residential quarters of police personnel.

During the visit, he instructed all officers to serve the public with honesty, integrity and sincerity.

He also warned that strict action would be taken if any allegations of negligence of duty or corruption are proven.
