Bangladesh Football League: Kings retain supremacy

Bashundhara Kings retained their supremacy beating defending champions Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited 2-1 in their 15th match of the Bangladesh Football League at Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Thursday.

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club took the lead in the 28th minute.

Mohammedan Sporting Club’s Saiful Hossain dribbled past two Kings’ defenders and advanced the ball into the box and Mohammedan’s Uzbek midfielder Muzaffarov made no mistake to put the ball into the goalbar (1-0).

Kings equalized in the final minute of the first half. Faisal Ahmed scored from a pass by Rakib Hossain (1-1).

Mohammedan missed the opportunity to increase the gap after the break.

Although the footballers of the black and white team missed, the Kings did not miss the opportunity.

In the 68th minute, Dorielton Gomez scored a goal from a pass of his teammate Faisal Ahmed Fahim to give Kings the victory (2-1). This was his 15th goal in the league.

With this victory, Bashundhara Kings led the points table grabbing 34 points after 15 matches.

Mohammedan took number sixth position with 17 points from the same number of matches.

On the other hand, the match between Brothers Union and Arambagh Krira Sangha ended in a 2-2 draw at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on the same day.

The red card incident has spread tension in this match.

Brothers Union took the seventh position with 14 points from 15 matches, while Arambagh Krira Sangha took the eighth spot with the same number of points playing as many matches.
