JS Secretariat gets Tk 290.60cr for FY27

The Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat will receive a budget allocation of Tk 290.60 crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year, with the bulk of the amount earmarked for operational expenses.

Of the total allocation, Tk 289.90 crore has been set aside for operational expenditure, while Tk 70 lakh will go to development expenditure.

The decision was taken at the 37th meeting of the Parliament Secretariat Commission held on Wednesday at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, chaired by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister and Leader of the House Tarique Rahman, Leader of the Opposition Dr Shafiqur Rahman, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, and Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni, who joined as a special invitee.

The commission also approved the revised budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, setting the allocation at Tk 226.69 crore, including Tk 226.49 crore for operational expenses and Tk 20 lakh for development work.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minutes of the 36th commission meeting were confirmed and progress on previous decisions was reviewed.

Ongoing development projects under the Parliament Secretariat were also discussed.
The agenda was presented by Secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Barrister Md Golam Sorwar Bhuiyan, while senior officials from the Secretariat and relevant ministries were also present.
