Nahid Rana to play in PSL final

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reversed an earlier decision and granted fast bowler Nahid Rana permission to participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final on May 3.

The board announced Wednesday that it reviewed Rana’s No Objection Certificate after receiving clearance from the national team management and medical staff.

Nahid Rana returned to the country in the middle of the PSL and won the Man of the Series award in the ODI series against New Zealand.

After the ODI series, the BCB announced that Nahid would be preparing for the Test series against Pakistan next month, so he would not be going to Pakistan to play in the PSL.

The BCB said that playing in the franchise final will not negatively impact the bowler’s fitness, workload management, or availability for upcoming international fixtures.

On Wednesday, Peshawar Zalmi chairman Javed Afridi wrote on social media, “Thank you Tamim (BCB interim president Tamim Iqbal) brother for allowing Nahid to play in the PSL final.”

The final of this season’s PSL will be held in Lahore on May 3. Peshawar have secured a place in the final by winning the first qualifier. Hyderabad Kingsmen-Multan Sultans and Islamabad United are in the running to reach the final along with them.

Nahid Rana made his debut in a foreign franchise league in this year’s PSL. He took 7 wickets in 4 matches for Peshawar Zalmi at an average of

5.42 runs per over.
After the PSL final, Rana is scheduled to return to the national squad. The board confirmed he remains on track and available for selection for Bangladesh’s first Test match against Pakistan, which is set to begin May 8 in Dhaka.
