Conspectus: Syed Abdal new Principal Information Officer of PID

Syed Abdal Ahmed, Executive Editor of the daily Amar Desh, has been appointed Principal Information Officer (PIO) of Press Information Department(PID).

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Sunday reports UNB.

According to the notification, Syed Abdal Ahmed has been appointed on a contractual basis subject to his relinquishing any employment or professional engagement with any other profession, business, or government, semi-government or private institution or organisation.

Abdal Ahmed has been appointed to the post under Grade-1 (Secretary status) for one year from the date of joining.

A two-time elected general secretary of the Jatiya Press Club, Abdal Ahmed also served as Deputy Press Secretary to then Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia during 1992–96.

He received the prestigious Philips Award in 1989 for investigative reporting along with ESCAP-FEJ Award and Dhaka Reporters Unity Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025.
