13 police officers sent on compulsory retirement

The government has sent 13 senior police officers, including 11 Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) and 2 Additional DIGs, into compulsory retirement in a single order.

A notification signed on Wednesday by Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Md. Manjur Morshed Chowdhury, on behalf of the President, confirmed the decision. It said the officers have been retired from government service in the public interest under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018.

According to the notification, the officers will receive retirement benefits as per existing rules, and the order takes immediate effect.

The officers include DIG of Police Staff College Dr. A.F.M. Masum Rabbani, Additional DIG of Tourist Police Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Commandant (DIG) of Rangpur PTC Moha. Ashrafuzzaman (noted as fugitive), DIG of Anti-Terrorism Unit A.Z.M. Nafiul Islam, DIG of Naval Police Mohammad Abul Foyez, and DIG of Anti-Terrorism Unit Md. Monirul Islam.

Others sent on retirement are DIG of Police Headquarters Mahfuzur Rahman, DIG of APBN Headquarters Md. Munibur Rahman, Additional DIG attached to Rangpur Range DIG Office Md. Iqbal Hossain, DIG (TR) of Police Headquarters Shamima Begum, DIG of Industrial Police Md. Abu Kalam Siddique, DIG of Police Telecom Md. Aminul Islam, and DIG of APBN (Hill Districts) Salma Begum.
