DU Career Club hosts ‘Diva Unbound’ entrepreneurship event

The Dhaka University Career Club has successfully organised a women entrepreneurship development event titled “Diva Unbound” on 22 April 2026 at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) Auditorium of the University of Dhaka, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The event was sponsored by Eastern Bank PLC (EBL).
The day-long programme brought together emerging women entrepreneurs, students and corporate leaders. Focused on women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship development and leadership building, the event turned into a vibrant and interactive platform. The programme began with an inspiring speech by Assistant General Secretary Isha. Later, Shakil Ahmed Himel, representative of Eastern Bank PLC, highlighted EBL’s Women Banking initiatives and specialised financial services for women entrepreneurs.
EBL has long been working for the development of women entrepreneurs. As part of this, its “Odita” training programme plays a significant role in enhancing skills, business knowledge and ensuring financial inclusion for women entrepreneurs. Representatives from EBL also present included Sharmin Atik, Head of Liability and Wealth Management; Tanjeree Hossain, Head of Priority and Women Banking; Marilyn Brishti Gomez, Senior Manager, Women Banking; and Shakil Ahmed Himel, Associate Manager, Women Banking.
In the first session, entrepreneur Monoshita Airuani, Founder of Shape, shared her real-life experiences as a woman entrepreneur. The second session featured motivational discussions and experience sharing by Tanzila Binte Hasan (Co-founder, Brown Closet; Content Creator; Former Specialist, Robi Axiata Limited) and Masha Islam (singer, songwriter and vocal artist).
Distinguished guests included Dr Saeema Haque Bidisha (Pro-Vice Chancellor and Chair, Department of Public Administration, University of Dhaka) and Professor Dr Syeda Laskana Kabir (Professor, University of Dhaka), who provided key guidance on women’s leadership and professional development.
A vibrant entrepreneurship exhibition was also held, showcasing small businesses and creative initiatives. Participants displayed and sold homemade food items, handcrafted jewellery and other products, creating an energetic atmosphere.
The closing remarks were delivered by Professor Dr Syeda Laskana Kabir and Sharmin Atik, Head of Liability and Wealth Management at Eastern Bank PLC. She emphasised the importance of financial inclusion, institutional support and continuous encouragement for women entrepreneurs.
Through this initiative, the Dhaka University Career Club expressed its hope to further strengthen confidence, innovation and leadership among the younger generation while encouraging the advancement of women entrepreneurs.
