US spl envoy to visit BD to boost child welfare

Charles J. Harder, the United States Special Envoy for Best Future Generations, is set to arrive in Dhaka on April 18 for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening US-Bangladesh cooperation in education and child welfare.

During his visit, Harder will meet with senior government officials and key stakeholders to explore expanded partnerships focused on supporting Bangladesh’s younger population.

His office works globally to protect and promote the well-being of children aged 0–17.The envoy’s agenda focuses on critical areas including food security, education, healthcare, and WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), along with efforts to combat child labour, trafficking, and the recruitment of children into gangs and armed conflict.

Officials said the visit underscores Washington’s continued engagement with Dhaka on social development issues, particularly those affecting vulnerable children and communities.In his role, Harder regularly engages with government leaders, as well as representatives from foundations, corporations, non-profit and faith-based organisations, and international bodies, to develop practical solutions for improving the lives of children and their families.A seasoned attorney with over 25 years of experience, Harder is a partner at Harder Stonerock LLP, with offices in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.
