Ibrahim invites PM to visit Malaysia

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to visit Malaysia at a mutually convenient time.

The invitation was extended on Thursday during a meeting with Bangladesh’s Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury at the prime minister’s office in Putrajaya.

During the meeting, Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Tarique Rahman on his election as prime minister, praising his long struggle to restore democracy and commending Bangladesh’s ongoing progress.

Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin conveyed greetings from Tarique Rahman and handed over a special letter to the Malaysian premier.

The two sides held detailed discussions on labour market cooperation and worker recruitment, reaffirming their commitment to preventing worker exploitation and ensuring a transparent and fair recruitment process.

They also explored opportunities to expand bilateral trade and investment, expressing interest in strengthening economic ties for mutual benefit.

In addition, both countries discussed enhancing cooperation in education, including teacher exchanges and academic collaboration, to deepen people-to-people connections.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations and pledged to further strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.
