60 illegal gas connections disconnected in N’ganj

A mobile court in Araihazar, Narayanganj disconnected 60 illegal gas connections, including those used by factories, during a special drive. One dyeing factory representative was fined and sentenced.

The operation was conducted from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Thursday in Kalibari, Bara Binairchar, and Chhoto Binairchar areas under Duptara Union. The drive was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Mostafizur Rahman Imon, with support from Titas Gas authorities.

Sources said that 60 illegal gas connections, including those in households and factories, were disconnected. Md. Sohan, a representative of Messrs Aishi Dyeing Factory, was fined Tk 1 lakh for taking illegal gas connections. In default of payment, he was sentenced to 30 days of simple imprisonment, along with an additional 10 days.

Executive Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman Imon said such drives against illegal gas connections will continue, and strict legal action will be taken against violators.
