25 thousand fruit saplings distributed among 500 farmers in Khagrachhari

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) in the district has distributed 25 thousand fruit saplings among 500 farmers in the hill town on Sunday.
They have distributed the fruit saplings including mango, litchi and wood apple through a programme presided over by the convener and member of Khagrachhari Hill District Council (KHDC) Adv Ashutosh Chakma while local lawmaker Kujendra Lal Tripura attended the programme as chief guest.
Lawmaker Kujendra Lal Tripura said climate has already been changed as forest is disappearing fast in the hill districts of Khagrachhari, Rangamati and Bandarban as like as in the other parts of the country.
Now it’s high time to plant saplings aiming to tackle natural disasters, stop climate changes and ensure a happy and prosperous future for next generation,
he said.
“We can face natural disasters if we plant more and more trees in our fallen areas, he said, urging people to plant saplings to make Khagrachhari as a green hill town”.
Adv Ashutosh Chakma said he would try to make whole Khagrachhari District as green through planting more and more saplings of fruits, woods and medicines.
Among others, KHDC Chairman Kongjari Chowdhury, DC Muhammad Wahiduzzaman, Superintendent of Police Md Mazid Ali, Chief Scientific Officer of Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute Dr Mohabbot Ullah also spoke in the programme.
