Ex- minister Sadhan granted bail in July attempted murder case
A Dhaka court has granted bail to former food minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder in an attempted murder case linked to the shooting of businessman Imrul Kayes Faisal during the July Uprising.
The bail order was issued on 2 April by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman after a hearing.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution Division) Mia Mohammad Ashis Bin Hasan said, “The defence lawyers submitted a bail petition on behalf of the accused, and the court granted it after hearing the case.”
According to the case statement, on 19 July 2024, businessman Imrul Kayes Faisal was shot while participating in a Students Against Discrimination movement in the Beribadh area under Mohammadpur Police Station. Faisal was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Following treatment, Faisal filed the case at Mohammadpur Police Station on 26 September 2024.
Sadhan Chandra Majumder was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) at his residence in the Bashundhara Residential Area of Dhaka on 3 October 2024, and had been in custody since his arrest.
