A Dhaka court has granted bail to three individuals, including Sameer Uddin Chowdhury and Shakir Uddin Chowdhury sons of BNP leader and Chattogram-6 (Raozan) lawmaker Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury along with Monira Ershad, in a case over allegations of assault, vandalism, looting, and an attempt to forcibly occupy a businessman’s flat in Gulshan.

On Thursday, the accused surrendered before the court through their lawyers and sought bail at the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Junaid, reports media.

Following the hearing, the court granted their bail, confirmed Sub-Inspector Moktar Hossain of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police prosecution division.

The court also denied bail of another accused in the case, Ashikur Rahman Ashik, in the case. Gias Uddin Kader Chowdhury is also an accused in the case.

Earlier, on 1 April, the court had cancelled the bail of four accused in the case and issued arrest warrants against them.

The complaint further stated that the accused attacked the plaintiff and his family with rods, pipes, and hammers when he tried to repair the ground floor the next day.

They allegedly threatened him with death and told him to leave the property. When he resisted, he and his son were beaten and injured.

Local residents later rushed to the scene after hearing their cries for help.
The family sought help through the national emergency service (999), after which Gulshan police arrived at the scene.

The injured received treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital.
The plaintiff, Farzana Anna Islam, filed the case with Gulshan Police Station on 10 December last year following the incident.
