Tree plantation drive launches in Rangpur
As part of the government’s election promise to plant 250 million trees in five years, a tree plantation programme has been inaugurated in Rangpur. On Wednesday, Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan inaugurated the programme at Nabdiganj on the Rangpur-Barbari-Kurigram National Highway.
The Rangpur District Administration and the Roads and Highways Department jointly organised the programme.
After the inauguration, the Deputy Commissioner told reporters that trees provide oxygen, flowers, fruits, food, and various essential resources for human survival.
In addition, there is no alternative to trees for maintaining environmental balance. For this reason, he emphasized the need for increased tree plantation.
He added that tree plantation is not just about planting trees, but an essential social movement to combat disasters and build a green future. Involving young students in this movement will help develop a positive attitude toward tree plantation, encouraging them to plant trees on their own initiative.
He urged students to plant more trees to protect the environment.
Among those present at the event were Rangpur Forest Department Deputy Conservator of Forests Md. Nurul Islam, Roads and Highways Department Executive Engineer Md. Moniruzzaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Md.
