Ex-DGFI Director Afzal Naser held

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested former Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) director Md Afzal Naser in a case related to 2024 July-August movement.

He has been shown arrested in a case filed with Mirpur Police Station in connection with the movement, said DB Joint Commissioner (North) Rabiul Islam Bhuiyan on Monday, reports UNB
Naser was picked up early in the morning from a house in Mirpur DOHS in the capital.

Afzal Naser served as a DGFI director from March 2006 to March 2008.

He was allegedly among those involved in the torture of political leaders and businessmen while they were in custody during his tenure in DGFI.

On March 26, detectives arrested former DG of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) Lieutenant General (retd) Sheikh Mamun Khaled from the capital’s Mirpur area.

Besides, detectives arrested former army officer and Feni-3 lawmaker Lt Gen (retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury from Baridhara area of the capital on March 24 in connection with a case filed with Paltan Police Station on charge of human trafficking.
