A day ago, the Bangladesh Football team lost to Vietnam by a big margin. On Friday in the Asia Cup Archery World Ranking Tournament (Stage-1) in Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, Bangladesh set a precedent by winning the gold medal by defeating Vietnam in the final of the compound men’s team category.

Last year, Bangladeshi archer Abdur Rahman Alif won gold in the recurve men’s single event in this tournament.

Bangladesh had high expectations this time, but could not play in the semi-finals of any of the single or mixed events.

They reached the final only in the compound men’s team event on last Wednesday.

In the final held on Friday, three compound archers of Bangladesh, Himu Bachar, Rakib Newaz and Aishwarya Rahman, performed well.

Bangladeshi archers scored 231 points, while Vietnamese archers scored 225. Bangladesh won the final and became the champions by winning the championship by 6 points.

Earlier, Bangladesh defeated Bhutan by a score of 232-228 in the semi-final of the compound men’s team category of the Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament (Stage-1) at the same venue on Wednesday.

Himu Bachar, Aishwarya Rahman and Newaz Ahmed played for the team.

Bangladesh advanced a long way on the road to the final by winning the first three sets by scoring of 60-57, 59-58 and 57-56. Although Bhutan won the fourth set by a score of 57-56, it was not enough for Bhutan.

Vietnam reached the final by defeating India by a score of 134-133 in a tough battle.

Bangladesh last won silver in the compound category in the Asia Cup leg one held in Guangzhou, China in 2021. They lost to South Korea in the team category in the battle to be the best team.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque has congratulated Bangladesh Men’s Archery team for their success.
