‘Govt aim to proceed in line with July Charter’
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman on Monday said BNP respects the July Charter and wants to move forward guided by its principles.
“Statements made by the leaders of the NCP regarding the referendum are being made without full understanding. They have only understood half of the issue.
We will respond to their statements in the National Parliament. We aim to proceed by taking both emotion and the law together,” he said while talking to journalists after inaugurating the canal excavation programme at Moragacha-Hashimpur in Khoksa upazila, Kushtia, reports BSS.
The minister said the BNP government will excavate 20,000 kilometres of rivers and canals across the country and evict illegal occupants. On the issue of pending cases, the minister said, “We will hold discussions with all parties and take decisions on these cases based on everyone’s opinions.”
Presided over by deputy commissioner Mahbubul Alam, the programme was also addressed by Kushtia-1 lawmaker Reza Ahmed Bacchu, Kushtia-4 lawmaker Afzal Hussain, former lawmaker Syed Mehedi Ahmed Rumi and Kushtia Zila Parishad Administrator Principal Sohrab Uddin, among others.
