OC Razzak’s order viral before transfer
From a constable to OC. Police officer Abdur Razzak out of his total 29 years of police career, he spent 19 years in Bogura alone.
Although he served in different parts of the country during the rest of his service period, he reportedly could never detach himself from Bogura.
During his long years of posting in the district, allegations suggest that he accumulated assets worth nearly hundreds of crores of taka.
Abdur Razzak has built two luxurious houses in Bogura and is also rumored to own numerous properties under his own name and others.
His ancestral home is in Poradangga area of Sujanagar in Pabna, but due to his professional career he has effectively become a resident of the Johurul Nagar and Kamargari areas of Bogura city.
His voter ID card also lists Bogura as his current address. Razzak joined the Bangladesh Police as a constable in Rajshahi on July 29, 1994.
He served as a constable until October 1, 2000. After being promoted to Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), he joined Dupchanchia Police Station in Bogura on November 19, 2005.
After one year and three months there, he joined the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in 2005 but served only four months before returning to the Bogura Highway Police, where he remained for three years and 29 days.
He was later posted to Muradnagar Police Station in Cumilla for 10 months and Tarash Police Station in Sirajganj for 8 months and 11 days. Later, reportedly through special lobbying, he returned to Bogura Sadar Police Station, where he served for 8 months and 23 days.
Subsequently, he served at Nachole Police Station in Chapainawabganj for 1 year and 3 months before returning to Bogura Sadar Police Station for two years.
He was then transferred to Mokamtala Investigation Center, where he served for 8 months before returning once again to Bogura Sadar Police Station for another two years.
After serving one and a half years at Naogaon Police Lines, he returned to Bogura Police Lines, and after just 11 days he was promoted to Inspector and posted to Adamdighi Police Station. He served there for two years, then moved to Nandigram Police Station for one month and 28 days.
Later, he worked for two years at APBn-14 in Cox’s Bazar. From there he returned to APBn-4 in Bogura, serving for 1 year and 8 months before being posted to the Office of the Superintendent of Police in Chattogram, where he remained only four days.
After that he served at Nabinagar Police Station for 9 months and 7 days and at the DSB in Brahmanbaria for 3 months and 26 days. Currently, he is serving as an Inspector in Noakhali.
Despite his postings across the country, Razzak is said to have always preferred Bogura. Through high-level lobbying, arrangements were reportedly nearly finalized for his transfer back to Bogura Sadar Police Station.
However, due to the Bogura-6 by-election, his transfer documents are currently awaiting approval from the Election Commission. It is expected that he may soon join Bogura Sadar Police Station.
Meanwhile, an unsigned transfer order regarding him has gone viral on social media, which has reportedly caused some embarrassment for Razzak.
During his time in Bogura, the officer has earned both praise and criticism. According to sources, he maintained close relationships with local Awami League leaders and often visited their homes or party offices to congratulate them with flowers when they won elections. He was also seen taking selfies at the front of Awami League rallies and posting them on Facebook.
In the past, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) reportedly summoned him to account for his wealth.
Razzak owns a six-storey luxurious building in Johurul Nagar, Bogura, and discussions persist about several other properties in the city allegedly owned by him directly or indirectly.
When asked about these matters, Inspector Abdur Razzak said that a transfer order involving him had gone viral on social media, but he did not know how it happened.
He added that he currently has no intention of serving in Bogura, although he acknowledged that he is now a voter and resident of the district.
However, Abdur Razzak is not the only police officer living a luxurious lifestyle in Bogura. According to various sources, around a hundred police officers have built lavish houses and maintain royal lifestyles in the district.
Many of them reportedly returned to Bogura through lobbying even after being transferred elsewhere for disciplinary reasons.
Regarding these issues, Bogura Superintendent of Police Mirza Sayeem Mahmud told this correspondent that he had heard about the matter but no official transfer order had yet reached his office.
When asked about officers returning to Bogura repeatedly, he said the matter had also come to his attention and he would look into it.
