Abbas set to fly to Singapore for advanced care
BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, also the political adviser to the Prime Minister, will be transferred to Singapore for advanced medical treatment on Sunday.
He will be flown to Singapore via an air ambulance from Dhaka at 11:00 AM, Mirza Abbas’s personal secretary, Mizanur Rahman Sohel, on Saturday confirmed the media.
He stated that Mirza Abbas will be accompanied by his wife, the Chairperson of the BNP Women’s Wing, Afroza Abbas, and their eldest son, Mirza Yasir Abbas, during the transfer.
Mirza Abbas, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, underwent a successful brain surgery on Friday. Since then, he has been kept under intensive care (ICU) for close monitoring.
On Saturday morning, a CT scan of his brain was conducted. BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam shared that the results of the scan were positive.
However, following the advice of medical professionals, the family has decided to send him abroad for further treatment.
The veteran leader, Mirza Abbas, had suddenly lost consciousness while drinking water during Iftar on Thursday evening.
He was swiftly admitted to Evercare Hospital, and when his condition worsened, a virtual medical board was formed. Based on their recommendations, two surgeries were performed on his brain on Friday.
After the surgeries, he was placed under 72 hours of intensive observation.
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, along with other political leaders, has been regularly monitoring Mirza Abbas’s health. On Friday, Tarique Rahman visited the hospital to inquire about his condition.
In addition, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, along with other senior leaders from various political parties, have visited the hospital to offer their well-wishes for his speedy recovery.
